Ten members showed up to learn about long distance sailing from the Swedish Ocean Sailing Club (OSK). Jan and Ola from OSK shared both their own experiences and facts about the club with great enthusiasm.
OSK has about 700 active members. Lots of activities are on the agenda with different types of gathering almost every week during the winter season and a monthly magazine.
Training for members is arranged on relevant topics such as an introduction course on ocean sailing, radar training, VHF and SSB radio and Spanish for sailors!
Jan gave us an inspiring summary of his project to cross the Atlantic and cruise the Caribbean. Even though at home during the Hurricane season, the trip lasted more than two years.
Jan ended with convincing us that we can all do a trip like this. It’s more about making a decision and setting a date to really make it happen. To be well prepared and have a proper review of the boat is essential, but Jan sailed with a relatively small (31 feet) and 35 year old boat!
Erisson Sailing Club invited members to a beginners evening in September. Two of our members, Bo and Francesco, signed up for the event and practised their skills with Donald on his boat Sjöjungfrun, Folkbåt F-SWE-1358.
The weather was great and we had a very nice evening on Lilla Värtan just outside Djurgården. This was Bo´s first time sailing but he showed great talent when he steered around the island Fjäderholmarna.

Franscesco already had experience from Gunnars Seglarskola but enjoyed the opportunity to practise his skills and learn some new.

We had a great time and hope to do this again next year with more members and boats!
Note: This event will be in Swedish

Hi all Sailors of Ericsson,
I hope you are all fine and that you have taken the opportunities to sail during the summer!
Personally, the highlights were the Swedish Nationals in Folkboat in Stockholm and the Gold Cup in Helsinki, Finland.
We also had an exciting race for the Club trophy at the Vikingarnas Segelsällskap recently.
Thanks to your responses to Stefan’s survey, we’d like to propose the following activities for the autumn/fall:
Our activity responsible Stefan Lundeqvist is negotiation the Navigation training for the autumn/fall and will revert shortly.
We have discussed the possibility to borrow an IF-boat (IF=International Folkboat) and sail with the IF-sailors of Stockholm. This is preliminary set to the evening of 15th of September. Please inform if you are interested. Given the interest, we’ll tune this. Please contact Stefan or me, if you are interested.
We’ve been in touch with the Oceanseglarklubben and they will deliver a speech related to the real sailing adventures on the big sea around the 20th of November – more information to follow!
Best wishes for the sailing! There are still a few more weeks to go!
